Love sport or fancy getting more active?

Whether you’re a serious fitness fanatic or a total beginner, the Sportspark at the UEA in Norwich has something for you (probably more than you imagined, in fact).

Facilities at the Sportspark, located just a 10 minute drive from Norwich City Centre, are some of the best in the region. Rather wonderfully, they are accessible to all, rather than simply members (although you can become a Member, which entitles you to extra benefits and discounts).

For budding athletes, there’s the all weather floodlit international standard 8 lane athletics track – the best in Norfolk, as well as jumping and throwing facilities.

Sportspark has six floodlit tarmacadam outdoor tennis courts, which also convert to four netball courts. You can even hire tennis racquets and buy tennis balls. Couldn’t be simpler to practice your backhand.

Football fans won’t be disappointed with the Soccerpark. There are more small sided soccer pitches at Sportspark than anywhere else in East Anglia, and you have a choice of pitch size and surface. Sportspark boasts 7 x 3G football pitches – 4 x 5-a-side and 3 x 7-a-side. All 5 a-side 3G football pitches are enclosed with top-netting.

There are also, 2 floodlit synthetic turf hockey pitches (sand-dressed). These can be used as 6 x 7-a-side football pitches.

There are Leagues run by Norfolk County FA for adults (18+) and specifically students (over 18 in full time education).

Sportspark also has a host of indoor facilities. In 2014, Sportspark unveiled a £1.3M refurbishment. Along with many other improvements, the fitness facilities were transformed with a breathtaking (literally!) state-of-the-art expansion. The Fitness Centre (Gym) now boasts 125 stations of Life Fitness equipment (watch music videos, connect to the Internet, Tweet – all while working out!), new group classes (60+ every week) and refurbished changing facilities. With a range of membership options and absolutely no contracts, you’ll be hard-pressed to find better workout facilities for your buck in Norwich. Fact.

Sportspark has two 25m swimming pools which convert to one 50m Olympic sized pool. With classes, courses and Parent & Toddler swimming sessions, there is something for all ages, fitness levels and abilities.

The incredible Spring Gymnastics centre is equipped to Olympic standard, providing the best facilities for recreational level gymnastics in Norfolk, including excellent trampolining apparatus. Again, there are plenty of classes and courses for all age groups (from preschoolers upwards).

As well as swimming and gymnastics, Sportspark has 2 large indoor arenas accommodating 20 badminton courts, 5 basketball courts, 8 volleyball courts…, a Dance studio, a Martial Arts room and 5 squash courts. It boasts Norfolk’s tallest indoor climbing wall (‘The Peak’) with bouldering cave, as well as numerous courses and classes such as aerobics and dance.

In short, if you live in Norwich, and want to get fit, have fun or take up a new sport or activity, then you’re frankly privileged to have this facility on your doorstep. Sportspark has to be one of the best multi sport and fitness venues in the East Anglian region. With its ‘turn up and play’ philosophy, getting sporty couldn’t be easier. Marvellous.

Please check the Sportspark website for opening hours for each area.

There is ample parking on site. Sportspark is also situated on a main bus route from Norwich Rail Station.
