Pioneers of the English Whisky scene, The English Whisky Co. is the first distillery in England in over 100 years, based at their family-owned Distillery just off the A11 at Roudham. The distillery is open to the public 7 days a week for a tour, to browse the shop or to take a river walk.
The barley grown in Norfolk and the Breckland water are perfect for producing excellent quality whisky. Forsyths of Rothes, who have been servicing the whisky industry since the late 1800’s, built the equipment in the distillery, including the beautiful copper stills. St. George’s was also fortunate enough to have award-winning master distiller Iain Henderson – formerly Manager at the Laphroaig Distillery and who has assisted in the set up of several successful distilleries – overseeing the initial production.
The first batch of whisky was bottled in December 2009, and during 2010 the distillery bottled an exclusive peaty number that was specially distilled by Iain.
The distillery runs the St Georges Tour 7 days a week. This involves a guided tour of their magnificent distilling floor and barrel warehouse. Discover how their wonderful single malt whiskies are made and how St George’s Distillery became the first distillery in England to produce whisky in over 100 years. Finish your tour with the tasting of 1 award winning English Whisky and 1 liqueur – Nice.
