The King of the Ring (Le Coup) hanging from ropes.

The Circus is in town…

Or… more precisely Chelsea McGuffin & Co are in town as part of the Norfolk & Norwich Festival, and they’ve brought their very own unique version of circus to town.

Commanding your full attention in the Adnams Spiegeltent in Chapelfield Gardens in Norwich city Centre, ‘Le Coup’ (don’t be fooled by the fancy name, this troupe is from The Land Down Under) is here until 28th May. Le Coup is a tribute to funfairs, travelling boxing troupes and the showmen and women of yesteryear.

Expect feats, laughs and gasps galore, supported by a live soundtrack by the bluegrass band Father Grant and The Blunt Objects. If you want big characters and even bigger spectacles (of the performance kind), be ready to be charmed by The Boss, The King of the Ring, Sally the Ally Cat, The Bookie, Bloody Mary, Fred, and Beaver (who is very much a Diva).

At just over a power hour of entertainment, this glorious rag-bag team of borderline miscreants delivers a show that’s all thriller and no filler.

A cheeky show on every level, this is fine for teens upwards (the show recommends 12+ years).

We went on Saturday and would highly recommend it – in fact, we’re tempted to go again. Out tip? For a really lovely evening out, spring for a booth in the Spiegeltent and make a full night of it.

The Norfolk & Norwich Festival 2023 is on now until 28th May.

Le Coup is on until Sunday 28th May (last show 5.30pm). Tickets from £20 with options from £7.50 for U18s.
