The Cellar House in Eaton has been shortlisted as one of six national finalists in the Best Community Pub category in the 2017 Great British Pub Awards.
The Eaton local won the title of Enterprise Inns National Community Pub of the Year in 2015, and is always looking at ways that it can better contribute towards the local community.
In early 2016, the Eaton Village Post office opened inside the Pub, and this July, the pub will serve as the venue for a second Family Fun Day in aid of the Eaton Green Playground Project.
The Cellar House is host to numerous local groups and clubs throughout the month. The local Eaton Dementia Friends group had their launch at the pub in May and Cellar House team member Becca is the pub’s Dementia Friendly Ambassador.
In early Autumn, at an award ceremony at the London Hilton in Park Lane, The Cellar House now stands a chance of being crowned the national champion in their award category, as well as the overall Great British Pub of Year 2017.
Owner Victoria MacDonald said: “a successful pub should be the centre of a community, offering services above simply food and drink.”
“My ultimate goal has always been to make the pub the heart of our local community in Eaton, seeing it used across the generations for multiple purposes. The potential is really exciting. Obviously, we wouldn’t be where we are without a superb team here at The Cellar House, so this accolade is as much about them as anything else.”
