Priscilla: Queen of the Desert arrives in town in just under two weeks.
Fresh from their win at the 2017 Norfolk Arts Awards and their recently nominated production of Little Shop of Horrors, Norwich-based, multi-award winning theatre company Sound Ideas return this February 20th to 24th with the smash hit – Priscilla: Queen of the Desert!. The latest eye-catching, visually sparkling and outrageously flamboyant production from this ambitious local group features almost 300 iconic costumes, a full sized bus and three fabulous flying divas making this a journey you don’t want to miss!
Formed in 2013 as part of the Norwich Fringe Festival when five theatre nuts with an obsession for obscure theatre crowded around a piano in their friend’s garage, the talented company has grown from successful bar shows to several critically acclaimed, well received full-scale shows.
Previously they took the Norwich theatre scene by storm when they staged the regional premiere of oddball toilet-themed hit Broadway cult musical Urinetown, followed closely by the equally ambitious Christmas production of Stephen Sondheim’s dark spin on fairytales, Into The Woods. 2017 saw three productions take to the stage, their biggest challenge to date, an immersive and site-specific production of the dark tale of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, their first professional engagement – USHERS: The Front of House Musical and the cult-classic Little Shop ofHorrors.
They’re now revving their engines for a journey to the heart of fabulous. So hold on to your wigs as Sound Ideas visits the outback aboard a pink bus! We’re getting ready for the ride of our lives as the ultimate party, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, takes a pit-stop in Norwich for one week only – we can’t wait!
Based on the smash-hit movie, the feel-good international hit sensation Priscilla is the heart-warming, uplifting adventure of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship and end up finding more than they could have ever dreamed of. Featuring disco classics such as It’s Raining Men, I Will Survive, Venus, Hot Stuff and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, this is a party for everyone’s inner drag queen!
