The Red Lion: A Riverside Delight

The Red Lion Bishopgate (found on the edge of Norwich city centre, near Norwich Cathedral) re-opened in May 2021, after a complete (and rather fabulous) refurbishment. It’s now owned by the folk behind the Unthank Arms and the William & Florence.

Open 7 days a week for good drinking and good food, you’ll find the Red Lion has an excellent range of drinks as well as brunch and delicious mains and puddings. Expect a traditional Roast on Sundays.

We recently enjoyed Brunch in the lovely, light conservatory, though there is also seating inside the pub and out on a terrace overlooking the river. Try the ample Breakfast Bowl (avocado, spiced beans & spinach, Parmentier potatoes, tomato & chilli salsa –  I added Halloumi as well, for good measure.)

Service is excellent – super friendly – and the setting beside the River Wensum makes you forget you’re so close to the city centre. You can even paddle board from/to the Red Lion if you fancy it.

Definitely a Norwich pub worth a look.
